How To Eat Clean Cheap

If you are one of the millions of Americans who are trying to live a healthier life, then how to eat clean cheap foods is probably one of your top priorities. There are literally hundreds of books, programs, and even online courses that are available to help you get on track with your healthier eating. It seems like most people these days are searching for quick and easy ways to lose weight and keep it off. Who has time for those long, complicated diets? Thankfully, there are easier ways to live a healthier life that don't involve so much time and effort.

One of the simplest ways to eat cleaner and less calorie-rich foods is by making simple substitutes. For instance, instead of buying pre-packaged foods at the store, why not make your own food choices? Fresh fruits and veggies, whole grain breads and pasta, healthy fats, healthy oils, and lean meats such as chicken and fish are all a part of a basic, clean eating recipe plan. It keeps lipids to a minimum and maintains other important heart-healthy nutrients, too, if taken in moderation.

In addition, when it comes to how to eat clean and cheap, your dairy intake should be scrutinized. If you don't eat lots of dairy products, start doing so today! While there are many delicious low-fat and low-calorie dairy products out there, you can't sacrifice quality and taste in your foods. Some of my favorite dairy products include low-fat plain yogurt, whole milk, cottage cheese, and soy milk. These are just some of my favorites, though, so if I don't mention them, chances are you'll go for something else.

Next, you need to add in healthy fats into your meals. These can be some good-for-you fats like avocado and olive oil, or some "bad" fats, like hydrogenated oils, margarine, etc. Stay away from hydrogenated oils unless you're going for a post-meal plan that promotes fat-burning or weight-loss. In either case, use lower-fat items for the majority of your meals.

Finally, your clean eating plan must include a variety of fresh vegetables and fruits in your diet. It's important to choose fresh vegetables and fruits whenever possible. You can use the skin on fresh fruits and veggies (after they're off the tree) to make delicious raw vegetable snacks. If you're not going to buy vegetable snacks, at least make sure you're eating plenty of fresh fruits and veggies. And don't forget about the vitamin and mineral vitamins and supplements you need to keep your body healthy and strong.

There's no reason to feel guilty about wanting to eat clean and stay healthy. Getting started today is the first step toward a healthier lifestyle. As you get used to eating clean and following a smart diet and exercise program, you'll find that you're much more likely to stick with it and achieve your goals. Just remember, starting clean doesn't mean being cheap - just healthier and smarter!
